Kinam

Kinam is an ancient practice from ancient Mexico, which is defined as “an art to harmonize body and spirit”. It consists of a set of techniques and exercises of Mesoamerican origin, which help to connect, balance and strengthen both the physical body and the mind and energy that make up the human being, so it is considered a psychophysical practice.

The term Kinam is an abbreviation of the Nahuatl verb Kinatia, which refers to applying force to achieve balance. It derives from the root Kin, which means power and in the Mayan language gives its name to the Sun.

The practice of Kinam is based on the ancient Toltec postures of power, which channel, concentrate, mobilize and distribute energy through body, mind, emotions and vital energy, to bring wellness at all levels while simultaneously connecting with our roots, through the legacy of the ancient Anahuac.

Although it involves movement and the strength and elasticity of the body, Kinam is also a practice that works from within. In this sense, it is a discipline with a meditative essence, as it allows us to connect with our Inner Self, by opening a channel of perception and feeling how the body’s energy is mobilized to generate changes in the mind, emotions, thoughts, energy and the capacity to feel.

The postures that are performed in Kinam are oriented to the four directions. Each one of them has a meaning and is related to the four elements of nature. By performing them we also offer a ritual of gratitude to Mother Earth and its elements, as well as a reconnection with them.
